Biography

Viola Granucci was born in Florence in 1983 and currently lives in Florence where she works in her art studio. She also collaborates, from 2003 since present time with the art studio, in Greve in Chianti, of her father Sandro Granucci, a sculptor and painter.
In 2003, she started her studies at the Fine Art Academy of Florence, graduating in 2008 with the main specialization in sculpture. She produced many sculptures from 2003 since the present time, refining her use of bronze, as privilege material, for her figurative human beings, often combining
them with geometric elements made by a different material, as terracotta. In 2006, she won a prize (with acquisition) at the “XXIV Biennale di Scultura di Gubbio” and she has taken part in various group exhibitions. In 2015, she created a big dimension permanent iron installation “Equilibrium”
for the “Sugame Sculpture Forest” owned by a private art collector. In 2017, she created another big dimension permanent iron installation called “Donna Futuro”, commissioned by the municipality of Greve in Chianti, for a public park dedicated to Oriana Fallaci.
Since 2023, she has been producing significant works exploring a new combination and dialogue of two different metals, bronze for the figures and iron for the circles and geometrical shapes. Also she uses ancient original iron objects combining them with her art works.
During her studies, she has pursued her passion for photography, which led her to create two photographic projects abroad during her academic years. In 2006, she participated in the “Workshop Outside Project Beograd” in Serbia, where she produced a photographic series on the identity/non identity of Gipsy children and orphans of an Institut. In 2007, she won a scholarship to the Minneapolis College of Art and Design (MCAD) in the USA, where she attended courses in sculpture and photography, focusing her photographic work on American multicultural identity and developing several photograpich projects for public schools.Over the years, she has presented several projects. Among them, in 2012, the photographic series “Scatti d’immaginario” was exhibited in a solo show at the Young space, Tornabuoni Gallery, Florence.
In 2025, she has been selected to design six artistic wine labels for the “Brancaia Wine Collection 2025”, a renowned winery, Brancaia, located in Radda in Chianti, Siena. The presentation of the new art bottles of wine collection 2025 is presented together with a solo exposition of her sculptures.
Her art works have been exhibited in contemporary art galleries, national and international, from 2004 to the present, and they have been acquired in numerous international private collections.
